is a popular 90-minute class to learn how to effectively research ancestors from the British Isles (England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland). 
Class members will learn the best methods and locations to search for their British ancestors. 

Those who attend will learn about:

  • Find and Read an interactive map for locating parishes
  • Learn what records are available and how to find them
  • Know the best websites for the British Isles
  • Find online videos and teaching sources

In this class we will cover Native American Indian Tribes relocated by the U.S. government to Indian Territory prior to 1900.  We will touch on a short history of their removal then learn how to locate and research records available, with emphasis on the Five Civilized Tribes.

We will study: 
  • The Dawes Cards/Packets and how to find family members. 
  • Native American Family Search
  •  Wiki Eastern Cherokee Applications
  • Indian Allotment Jackets for Five Civilized Tribes, 1884-1934 
  • Indian Land Allotment Sales, 1908-1927
  •  Additional records that have become available

class will begin with the earliest public record for Navajo’s – the 1940 US Federal census which enumerated 33,000 Navajo Indians out of a population of about 50,000.

 For our starting point, class members should have information about their ancestors prior to that date.
