What are Ancestry Hints?

The Shaky Leafs are Ancestry Hints designed to aid you in your family history research. They provide other records in our database that could possibly match the individual in your tree. These hints are automatically generated, and are there for you to determine whether or not the record hint matches the individual in your tree. We do not include all databases in the hints, as the hints are meant to help you find basic information for the people in your tree. There are many other record databases that are available through the normal search feature.

There are several ways to view hints on Ancestry.

  1. When you hover your mouse over a person's name in the Family or Pedigree view of your tree.

Once you get a hint, the next step is to determine if the record matches with the person in your tree. There are two main areas to review hints.
