to remain operational during this work. We are approaching the time when we will move the first part of the collection into the newly renovated space. This entails moving half a million rolls of film, and numerous cabinets of fiche and digital media. This is a very complex undertaking.
The Directors of the Granit Vault feel it is risky to pull items from the collection for production work (scanning or film duplication) during the time we are moving this part of the collection. Therefore, we need to suspend all work on the parts of the collection being moved. This will have the following impacts for approximately two weeks while we carry out the move:
· No scanning or film duplication on any GS number above 1,881,705
· No DCF delivery
· No fiche duplication
Currently this move is scheduled for early April 2014. There will be other similar moves later in the year for the rest of the collection.
Their notification included the following, "We recognize this is a significant inconvenience that is necessary in order to get this part of the collection safely, and in order, in its new location." The Church History Department will let us know if the dates change.
