One of the truly remarkable stories that came out of World War II was the story of the Kindertransport children. Nine months prior to the start of World War II, an effort was made to rescue more than 10,000 Jewish children from an almost certain death as the Nazi armies were becoming increasingly hostile to the Jewish population in Europe. Through the efforts of a handful of concerned people, children were taken from Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Danzig and Poland and relocated with families throughout the British Isles. . .

Most of these children ended up living in the British Isles. They were cared for by British families with the understanding that after the war, these children would be reunited with their families. After the war, for many of these young Kindertransport children, there were no families to return home to. Hundreds of thousands of Jewish parents died while imprisoned in a various concentration camps. Because of this, many of the Kindertransport children were either permanently adopted by their British hosts or were placed with other families or in institutions.

Historical records were kept of these children, along with information about their parents, siblings and other valuable family history information. These records were kept and preserved by the  World Jewish Relief organization.
