Our 2-Day Research Training Class begins This Thursday !

The 2-Day Research Training Class takes place on Thursday and Friday, March 26 and 27. This two day class picks up where the Basic Training 2-day class leaves off. You will be shown more effective ways of doing your research and using the ever-expanding array of "tools" provided on the internet. Technology is moving quickly, and we can show you ways to take advantage of what is out there without being overwhelmed. Our “Show then Do” method will . . .
help you to learn one step at a time, and then get your hands on the computer to experience it and know how to do it yourself. There will be lab time for nearly every class with plenty of time to ask questions and get personal help. Handouts will be available for each class; they will be emailed out to those who booked the class a few days prior to the training, so be sure to register early. If you miss getting them, let the teacher know.
Warning - These classes fill up fast. If you wish to participate in these very popular trainings, click on the "Book a Class" tab at the top of this page or just click on the following link to register for the class: http://www.genealogynow.org/book-a-class.html
NOTE: You will need basic computer skills to be able to take full advantage of the material presented in this training. If you need help with computer skills, classes in Basic Computer Skills are taught each month. If needed, take the computer class first and then take the 2 day classes.
What can you expect to learn in the Research Training Class?
(March 26 and 27)
1. FamilySearch - What Else Is There For Me?
2. Vital Records: Birth, Marriage, Death
3. Descendancy Research Using FamilySearch, Puzzilla, Pandora's Hope Chest
4. Land & Probate Records: Where to look and what you will find
5. LDS Research & Records
6. Find A Grave & Billion Graves
7. Crossing the Pond - Immigration Records
8. Census: Beyond the Population Schedule and More
9. Military Records: What They Can Tell Me
If you are new to family history or newly back, please take the Family History Training first to learn or brush up on your skills. Follow up with the Research Training. If you are comfortable with everything in the Basic Family History, then jump right in to the Research Training.
One thing I have learned over the years is no matter how much I know about a subject, there is always something more for me to learn.
Looking forward to seeing you at the training! Incredible new things happening every day!
