During the holiday season, our thoughts often turn to two things: family and gratitude. We want to spend more time making memories with our families. We’re looking for ways to show our gratitude by giving our time, attention, and means to things of greater importance such as indexing.

Indexing is the process that makes it possible to find your ancestors online. Many people view indexing as a way to give back in thanks for the people that made their research successful. Others see it as a way to pay it forward, hoping that their ancestors’ records will also be made available as more documents are indexed.

Whether you have a lot of experience, a little or none, indexing can be a great way to give, and the St.George FamilySearch Library has excellent classes to get you started. With all the helpful tools FamilySearch offers, indexing has become easier and very rewarding.  Click on "Read More" to see why and how you can help others and yourself.

We need to be aware that there are at least 20 times more searchable records in English on Family-Search.org than in all other languages combined?

Imagine what it is like to search time and time again hoping that your ancestors’ information had finally been indexed to no avail.

The success of those English speakers who learned to effectively index the Italian indexing program are a good example that languages other than theirs are doable. In fact, many seemed to discover an uplifting encouragement as they worked on the Italian projects. Here at the St. George FamilySearch Library, we offer classes to show you everything you need to know. Our training program will make it easy to be successful because it shows you how to get answers to any of your questions. Following find a list of many of the topics covered in the class.

How to easily download the indexing program
How to choose English or another language to index - Spanish, French, Portuguese, German
