Everyone’s got a love story, right? Who was the first person you fell head-over- heels in love with? How did you meet your spouse? What bumps did you hit on the road to matrimonial bliss? I haven’t heard a love story that didn’t in some way fascinate me. I’m convinced that no one has a boring love story.

A few months ago my wife and I were driving with our son. As we were talking about our upcoming anniversary, we started sharing memories of . . .
our courtship. We forgot all about our son in the back seat as we shared stories about the ups and downs of our courtship. Suddenly, my son spoke up and said, “Why didn’t you ever tell me about how you and mom met? I didn’t know you were engaged before you met mom!” It never dawned on me that we hadn’t shared those stories with our son. On the other hand, it never dawned on him that his mom and dad were once young and single and that we dated and courted like other people.
Love stories are wonderful. They’re priceless! They should be recorded and shared with your children and future posterity. These stories will be a priceless legacy to all of your loved ones.
Here is a challenge that I’d like to leave with you. I would like to challenge you to take 30 minutes and write down some memories of your courtship. If you’re not married yet, write about someone you were or are gaga in love with. Consider some of the questions below to help prompt your thoughts.
Once you've written something about your personal love story, go to FamilySearch.org and click on the Memories link. From there, you can easily post one or more pictures of you and your sweetheart and then add the details of your love story. What a wonderful way to preserve the precious memories of a wonderful part of your life and share them with generations to come. Live your love story again and again by sharing it with others.
