Places Research by FamilySearch is now Read certified. Places Research by FamilySearch allows you to look for places where your ancestors are from in the FamilySearch Standards Place database. If the place name is found, it will show you information about the place, such as its official full name and any variant names such as “The Big Apple” for New York City, or the “Big Easy” for New Orleans. It will also pin a locality on a map and provide the latitude and longitude for that site. If your place is not found in the database you can use the feedback link at the bottom of the page to request it be added.
Surname Match is now Read certified. Search an individual’s family tree in the FamilySearch database for surnames that match the Guild of One-Name Studies. Check out their information at http://one-name.org.
Sweden Records is now Read certified. Search for your Swedish ancestors born in Norra Skrävlinge Parish or Harlösa Parish and link to the Household Examination Record for their birth. A Household Examination Record (or Husförhörslängd) is a church book containing information about all the people who lived in a specific parish. These were recorded each year beginning in 1686, although many parishes did not begin preserving their records until the mid-1700’s. The purpose of the Household Examination Records (also known as Clerical Surveys) was to help the Lutheran state church in its responsibility of keeping track of the people. The contents of a Household Examination Book varied according to time.
Most ancestors in a family tree don’t have the data and artifacts necessary to create a story of their life… until now. With only a place and date from your ancestor’s life, HistoryLines will create a detailed and editable life sketch describing what your ancestor’s life might have been like based on the history of their location. (Watch the video when you click on HistoryLines.)
Kinmapper is now Read Certified. Kinmapper will use data provided by your FamilySearch family tree to map the locations where your ancestors lived. Easily see your relatives on a map and search for them by name. Kinmapper makes it easy to visualize where you ancestors lived.
TapGenes is now Read Certified. Preserve your family’s health story because your doctors don’t know you like your family does. TapGenes helps you collect, preserve, and share Family Health History information to help you care for the ones you love.
A family’s health history is considered the single strongest predictor of disease risk yet only 4% of Americans have a documented health history past their parents in medical records. Family members share genes, behaviors, lifestyles, and environments that together may influence their health and their risk of chronic disease. TapGenes is designed to be simple, social, and fun. It uses engaging quizzes to capture health information and machine learning algorithms to calculate health risks.
