Almost anyone searching for their ancestors in Ireland knows how difficult it can be. Because of a series of historical events and natural disasters, many priceless records collections throughout Ireland have been destroyed or removed from public access. But don’t despair. A working partnership between FamilySearch and the National Archives of Ireland has, at long last, resulted in the production and availability of some valuable. . .

original Irish records collections.

Many records that were previously not available to the public can now be accessed and searched as indexes and digitized images of original records. This is great news for anyone doing family research in Ireland. An article in the Irish Times titled Irish Roots: John Grenham provides details of these and other valuable records that are now available.

Read what new records are now available and get started planning your next research project. Searching for your Irish roots has never been easier.
