January Special: 2-for-1 New Year’s Resolution

Now that the holidays have come and gone, I am thinking about how to make 2016 a better year than 2015. My question is, “What can I do to make the biggest impact?”
If you’re a bargain shopper like me, you like getting a good BOGO (buy one, get one) deal. I’m the same with my New Year’s resolutions—I like setting goals that pay off in multiple ways.
Take, for example, the popular resolution to be healthier. Two benefits—looking good plus feeling good—make it a pretty attractive goal to set. . .

This year, I’ve found a 2-for-1 deal for me and you. The resolution: participate in FamilySearch indexing. Here are 2 ways indexing may be the most productive resolution you have ever set:
  1. It is an easy way for almost anyone to serve. Maybe one of your other resolutions is to serve more. Bonus! Indexing is the process that makes billions of historical records digitally available to people all over the world. There are people out there who have been searching for their ancestors for years. In 30 minutes or less, you could be the one who provides the missing link.
  2. Improve your language skills. If you are currently studying or have studied a second language at some point in your life, indexing can be a fun way to maintain or improve your skills. At any given time, there are indexing projects available in many different languages. Additionally, you will be helping to fill the huge need for more searchable records in non-English languages.
To make it easy on you, the indexing program has a built-in “resolution-maker.” It is called “My Personal Goal.” You can go in and give yourself a goal to reach within a certain time frame to stay motivated.
