Following is the findings of Family History Company's  Facebook Likeometer - comparing "Likes" for October 2013 to March 2014. The significant increase should encourage us to use Facebook at an additional source in our family history research and keeping up with some of the providers we use in our efforts. Take a look at the list of benefits  and  the number of "like" left by viewers.  An additional offering here is a direct link to each of the company's Facebook sites. . . .

Benefits of genealogy company Facebook pages:

  • Receive product updates
  • Chat with like-minded individuals
  • Communicate with company representatives
  • Find interesting family history posts to share on your own wall
Here are some great pages to “Like.” It is free to “Like” Facebook pages. The table includes percent increases over the past six months:

(Note, numbers of “Likes” constantly fluctuate; they will be outdated by the time you read this post.)

Ancestry.com retains the #1 position, with “Likes” up 12%. FindMyPast has jumped from the #7 position to the #3 position.  FindMyPast and FamilySearch have seen the largest percentage increases. This must be due in part to consolidating their various Facebook pages (or “Likes”) into single company pages (or “Like” totals). FindMyPast US, UK, Ireland, and Australia pages all now display the same number of “Likes;” FamilySearch has removed several sub-pages, such as FamilySearch Wiki. Overall, all companies have seen gains in page “Likes.”
