On January 16th , the directors of the St. George FamilySearch Library (SGFSL), Janice and Michael Mickelson, were honored to have the members of the St. George Interfaith Council come to the SGFSL to hold their monthly meeting.
The St. George Interfaith Council is an organization made up of representative leaders of the many religious denominations in our community. their facility. Upon receiving a positive response from the Mickelsons, they announced the January venue to their fellow Councilmen.
In addition, they also offered each council member an opportunity to have some genealogy research done for one of their deceased ancestors by a FamilySearch Library missionary. To do so they would need to provide some information about their ancestor and submit it at-least one week before the meeting.

As planned the meeting was held on the third Friday of January in the Conference Room of the FamilySearch Library. Following the business portion of the agenda, the meeting was turned over to the FSL Director, Michael Michelson for a brief introduction to the FamilySearch Library and to the value and purpose of Family History.

Using a Power Point presentation and an informative yet moving video about the Ellis Island Experience (view it below), the Council members were pleasingly informed and entertained. Before closing, Director Mickelson reminded the group of the opportunity to have research done for one of their ancestors.

It turned out that only five lucky people had taken advantage of the offer. Each of them were pleasingly surprised when they were presented a binder containing a variety of records and information that the missionaries had gathered about their ancestor. Much of what they saw was information they did not already know. Each of the receivers seemed a bit amazed and very pleased with the extent of the information concerning their ancestor.
The meeting ended with a shared appreciation for all that was exchanged and experienced. Everyone was then invited to stay and tour the Library and, of course, to come back again any time.
