How to Convert a PDF File to a JPG File -

Some times pictures are not accepted by FamilySearch because they are not JPGs. When pictures are found among text that has been saved in PDF, they will need to be saved to JPG (or TIFF) before they will be saved as a JPG. This video will show how to make the change.

How to convert a pdf to a jpeg or Other Format.
The family search web site accepts documents in PDF format but it does
not except photos in PDF format. If you have a photo in PDF format, you
must first convert it to a different format before you can upload it to Family-
Search.
I have a file which is in PDF format and I want to convert it to jpg format so
it can be accepted as a photo on the FamilySearch website.
Here is how I convert the file.
Instructions for Windows PC’s
1. Bring up a browser.
2. In the search bar, type in “smallpdf.com”
3. When the website comes up, select PDF to JPG.
4. Click Choose File. Don’t use the drag and drop option.
5. Select the file or group of files you want to convert.
6. Select Convert entire pages if you have a document with images on it.
Select Extract single images if you are converting single images or
photos.
7. After the processing is done, press Download Zip. Put the zip file on
your desktop. It may be in your download folder.
8. Put the cursor over the zip file and right click.
9. Select “Extract All.” When you choose your place, make a new folder on
the desktop so the images will go to the new folder.
10. Now all your new converted images are in the new file.

1. Open the program Preview.
2. Open the pdf document.
3. Select from View menu, make sure thumbnails are checked.
4. Select all the thumbnails (on the left side of the screen)
5. From the File menu, select Export.
6. Change the format from PDF to jpeg.
7. Make sure to save the images to a file on the desktop. The file may
automatically go to your downloads.
8. Press Save.
9. Your new jpg images are in the file.
