What a wonderful experience our Saturday Hispanic Cultural Event was. It would not have worked without all the voluteer power that showed up to work under the direction of Sisters Woods and Griffeth. It was a beehive of song, dance. games, eating and searching for ancestors. We thank all who took part.
With the generous assistants of so many within the St. George community including the Interfaith Groups, LDS Institute missionaries, local Spanish speakers and the ST. George FamilySearch Library staff, many attendees were given the opportunity to learn how to connect to their ancestors and learn more abut their Hispanic culture.
The entertainment experience, time lines, memorabilia, and cultural displays provided by our Hispanic brothers and sisters were outstanding and added much to the enjoyable, festive atmosphere. Our thanks to those who spent so much time and preparation to make this a special day.
Of the 164 survey questionnaires filled out, we had a resounding 160 who expressed that they would share their experience with their families and bring them to the St. George FamilySearch Library to learn what they need to do to find their ancestors. We also had a number of guests who stated their delight in finding names and details of their ancestors. Many expressed a desire to return and do further research.
Again, thanks to those who spent so much time and preparation to make this a special day.
