Get Ready for Next Week's Classes -
Read All About Them

Picture
It is warming up around here and school is about to be out for summer break.  Next week will begin on Tuesday and has a slowed-down summer schedule.  Just three classes, and they are valuable classes for everyone.  Let's clean up our trees, find the "lost" cousins, and get those family photos and stories out of that box in the basement.  David Rencher, former head of FamilySearch said, "We don't know where we're headed, but we're going there as fast as we can."  And you can see by the changes in FamilySearch, they are doing just that.  Summer is a time to step back and find out where we are and where we want to go from here.   Let's all go together. . .

Cleaning and Pruning Your Family Tree Tuesday, May 26 at 2 p.m. by Jeanine VanderBruggen.  Very few trees are perfect. When multiple people work on Trees they can create messes. You may find missing people, people who don't belong, but appear just the same, and duplicate records for a person.  Attend this class to discover what can be done about these problems, and how to correct them in a way that doesn't create more problems. You will learn what is and is not a duplicate, how to locate duplicates, using Add and Find options for information, deleting and correcting family relationships, Rules of Merging, Getting instant Help, classes on FamilySearch to help you.

Descendancy "It isn't Finished Until It Is Finished" Wednesday, May 27 at 10 a.m. by McClellan.  When your 2nd great-grandfather left the 'old country' and came to America, he probably left behind siblings, and cousins who had children, and grandchildren. These are your family also and you can find them by doing what is called Descendancy Research.  Basically you go up your tree then spread out and come back down on other related lines. This can be a 'gold mine' for finding names.  Come and discover the Descendancy View on Family Tree, color coded hints from FamilySearch, the Fan Chart, Hope Chest, Puzilla.

Photos & Stories in Family Tree
1 of 2 on Wednesday and 2 of 2 on Thursday, May 26-27 at 2 p.m. by Gary Beus.  The students will learn how to understand viewing and uploading Memories, view existing Memories, including the People-Collections, add stories, add a photo, use a Simulator to accelerate learning.
